*i need ya'lls help with suspension
ok so i want to lower my camaro 3 to 4 inches in the front. i have no clue how to do it right. i know how not to do it from a car i previously owned... i didn't do the lowering. but they did an awful job. the car rubbed on every bump.. til i fixed it. anyways ya'll seem to know alot about lowering and stancing. i know a little but i figured i'd ask the experts.. jdmwannabe... austin...dan.. trey...
this is why i want it lowered

i asked some guys on camaroforums and they're a bunch of old farts that cussed me out for wanting to lower it lol. they said i'd look like a ricer. i went off on one of them lol... on the internet. i know, real intimidating but he made me mad lol

cheap route http://www.jegs.com/i/Eibach/369/3852.120/10002/-1
expensive route http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-road-assalt-suspension-package-speed-tech-big-block-1970-1981.html
I don't really know if there is a true coilover for that car to drop it like your wanting, I don't think they are designed to do that unless you went with air ride technology...Not to sure though this is new for me, i'm sure someone on here will know a little bit more than me on it, but these were two options I found real quick just typing in 80 camaro rs suspension or coilovers... good luck sir and keep us update on what info you find out...it will look great lower imo...actually had a friend in high school that built one of these and it was sick looking wish I had a picture of it.

Re: *i need ya'lls help with suspension
i will. im planning on buying everything this weekend. i have an idea what to do but i'm doubting it a little. thanks for the links!
Re: *i need ya'lls help with suspension
i think it might consist of two things. like drop spindles and lowering springs or something like that. im not sure. the suspension on my car is very simple. just springs and shocks in the front and leaf springs in the back. couldn't be too hard
Re: *i need ya'lls help with suspension
rear would just be blocks and u-bolts much like a truck...the front should just be coil springs, and I would look into some shorter shocks, which you can measure for lengths on what you'll need and get them at a local parts store...so really shouldn't be to bad, just becareful of going to low because with the standard length control arms if I'm not mistaking could cause the front to camber...

They make coilovers for the front of muscle cars.
Lowering spindles work though but you may need more.

Re: *i need ya'lls help with suspension
Thanks good stuff, manilikecars. that $ 310 is very reasonable. I wonder how low it makes it all the coilover systems I found only drop ig 2 inches. So I was thinking two inch drop spindles and hotkich lowering performance springs. If that coilover will drop it 3 or 4 inches ill do that. I also found body spacers that will take 1/2 inch off. I might do coilovers and that
Re: *i need ya'lls help with suspension
car forums can be rough. I like steves nova site but for things like lowering, I look at protouring.com. makes you want to throw money at your car haha

tbh there is a bog dirt track following for your frame, you can get some crazy spring rates and just about every drop imaginable right off the shelf. check out some companies like speedway motors and such and you will be able to lower it right, ride decent, and cheap. and as long as your keeping a big sidewall on your tire you can go with higher spring rate and still have a liveable ride

you could also check into qa1 coilovers. i know they make a drop in for that car but its more of a drag setup

Re: *i need ya'lls help with suspension
and if you run leafs in the back just use a set of blocks but keep an eye on your pinion angle and whether your shocks will bottom out or not
also you will have to run 2" drop spindles in the front along with the drop springs or coilovers to achieve the 4" drop without royally screwing you suspension geometry and causing all sorts of bump steer
