97 civic 4 door build
ok, so let me start out by telling you that this car belongs to my little sister, the ideas were hers, and the work was done by her, AustinK, trey(not on this forum) my father, and myself. its not perfect, but it works, and looks pretty damn good for what we were working with.
The car started out bone stock with an interior that was falling apart, rusted steel rims, black paint that was falling off, and 0 out of 10 good looks..
about two years ago her and AustinK had the idea to chalk board the whole car.. it turned out awesome! then she decided that the stock rims just didn't work, so she picked up a used set of polished rota slips for cheap. before we put the rims on the car i picked up some lowering springs from a friend and lowered the car about an inch. not to much because roads here SUCK.. now the car is looking pretty sick.. next she started working on the interior. we replaced the headliner material and door panel cloth with some fabric she picked out from hobby lobby. she actually did most of the interior herself.
after the interior was done she started working under the hood. i got her an old junk yard short ram intake, and she painted it and her valve cover.
by this point her car was really coming together and it was time for her first car show!
after a full night of chalking.. the car looked like this at Scrapin The Coast 2010.
oh, and Drop Jaw Magazine really seemed to like it!
but thats not the end..
more to come!

Re: 97 civic 4 door build
ok, so the chalkboard car was pretty cool, but eventually it was time for a real paint job.
and let me start out by saying that chalkboard paint wasn't made to come off... EVER..
what should have taken about a week ended up taking us over a month. we started with the door jams because thats usually the hard part. they turned out perfect! my sister and austin picked out the color.
shortly after that we started sanding on the car, and after about 3 hours of wasting sandpaper on the hood we decided to use paint stripper.
by this time we are a good 3 and a half weeks into this, but finally it was time for color!
more to come. photobucket is being gay again.

Re: 97 civic 4 door build
Dunno how I missed this thread.
Cool as shit for a girl to be interested in cars and doing work herself on it.
then again....maybe not that interested if she isn't washing it and letting the good show.
LOL@ tits comment.
